Corr.: Tell me, please, about the appearing of your band.
Îòâåò: True and inarguable story of appearing of the band «Adhesive Tape Production Line» looks as the following although objections are accepted and gladly discussed.
Long as the 132 psalm, and interesting as the 8th chapter of the 1 Chronicles, the story of the «Adhesive Tapes» happened in 1997. That time the future member of the band played a guitar in another pop-group that played famous American church hymns. One of the future vocalists of that band knew Vadim, whose job was to get acquainted with vocalists. Naturally, Vadim joined our band very soon as one more guitarist. And may be here could have been the end of our fairytale, but… there appeared a big problem of the repertoire. Our guitarists didn't like the music they played in our band. So the two future "Adhesive Tapes" sat on the street bench and played the music they liked.
In summer 1998 Îleg and Vadim rested in the christian youth camp at the same time and in the same camp. They got acquainted with the young American, whose name won't tell you anything, who told them a terrible secret: in America christian youth are not fond of the music the band with three vocalists had played. This fact strenthened their desire to start "Adhesive Tape Production Line".
That summer Oleg participated in the terrific tent camp for youth near the Desna. He was one of three members of this terrific event and, moreover, he had a neighbour in the only tent. The name of his neighbour was Sergey who was a prof in terrific youth tent camps on the banks on the Desna river. What is more, Sergey could sing. HOW HE SANG!!! Unsurprisingly that he became very popular in a camp. Once at 3 o'clock a.m., by the light of the fire and with the steady taste of tea with sand (without sugar) in the mouth, there was an impromptu - one of the varients of the remix of the song «The Great God of Izrael». Later it was called the first song of «ATPL». Moreover there was a song "Wrappers" in Sergey's project, he sang it in Kiev and it was greatly approved by Vadim and after that three of them decided to work in the band «Adhesive Tape Production Line».
Corr.: How can you explain briefly the motives for starting the band? When and how did you decide to unite in one band and to play christian music?
Answer: Prior to the Olympic Games in Sydney we three went fishing and it explains a lot.
Corr.: How do you write your songs?
Answer: In different ways. For example, «Radiator» was written by Oleg in a tram. Sergey created «Props» in a bathroom, and Vadim wrote «Fairytale» while he was dreaming.
Corr.: Why did you choose this name for your band?
Answer: We are called «Adhesive Tape Production Line». This name explains itself.
Corr.: What does music mean for you?
Answer: An ordered complex of sounds.
Corr.: Who do you write your songs for?
Answer: For young believers. When a question about the content of our songs was raised, we found that there was a lot of christian evangelic music for unbelievers, there were lots of testimonies and calls to repent while there wasn't much music for believers. But lives of newly born people are full of extremely interesting and fascinating feelings.
Corr.: Where do you usually perform your concerts?
Answer: Usually at homes – in the kitchens.
Corr.: What are you fond of?
Answer: Big plans for the future and my friends.
