Here is what the Good News ("Evangel" in Greek) is:
Man was created by God. The first man never sinned. God was happy to live with him, and man was happy to fellowship with God.
But one day the serpent (the devil) who was very cunning tempted man, and man commited his first sin.
Who knows how it happened? After that man sinned more and more often. He was not the way God had created him. All people became sinners. An ability to sin grew inside of man, it became part of his nature. That is why man could not rid of sin. He had to be punished for bad things that he had done, and the wages of sin was death.
God loved people very much, and he did not want them to be punished. God promised people that one day he would send on earth his son Jesus who would suffer the punishment instead of them. People were waiting for this to happen. Jesus came on earth, he lived a sinless life and bore the punishment for people's sins. He was crucified on a cross, and then he came to hell instead of sinners. But hell could not keep him because Jesus himself commited no sin. Jesus rose from the dead, and now he is alive. God prepared a special gift for those who believe in Jesus and his work on the cross.
Now those who believe in Jesus are cleansed of guilt and sin, and all their sins are forgiven.
