THE STORY
OF SALVATION

These are not mere pictures for painting!
When you paint and cut out these triangular pictures, you will be able to lay them in the shape of a "fir-tree" or a "star" (as shown on the schematic), and you will learn how God created the world, how sin came into people's life, and why the world needed a savior.

You can read it in Bible:
Genesis 1:1-31; 2:1-9; 15-25; 3:1-24;
Mat. 1:18-25.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was absolutely empty, and there was darkness over it. All the earth was covered with water. God decided to make the clouds out of one part of water, and let the other part stay on the surface of the earth in the shape of seas, lakes, and rivers (picture 1).

God created light and separated it from darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night."

God decided to cover the land with different plants: trees, bushes and grass. When the flowers blossomed and the trees started bearing fruit, God looked at the earth and said, "This is very good. The earth will be so beautiful!" (picture 2).

God created lights in the sky to separate the day from the night, and mark seasons and days and years. The Sun was shining on the sky and warming the earth during the day time (picture 3). The moon and many-many stars were shining on the dark sky during the night time (picture 4).

God created different animals and small insects so that they would inhabit the earth, and fish that swam in the water, and birds with fluffy feathers to fly in the air (picture 5).

God saw that the earth was beautiful and he said, "Now I shall create people so that they will live on earth and rejoice all of its riches." God created man and gave him the name "Adam" (picture 6).

From Adam's rib God created woman and named her Eve (picture 7).

God settled Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and told them that they could eat fruit from any tree except for one tree that grew in the middle of the garden (picture 8).

All the animals liked Adam and Eve. But a sly serpent who also lived in the garden did not like Adam and Eve at all. Once when Eve was alone he sneaked up to her and cunningly pursuaded her to disobey God and to eat fruit from the forbidden tree. After Eve had tried that fruit she gave it to Adam and he also tried it. When God came to the garden to fellowship with Adam and Eve they got scared and hid from him. God called them and asked if they had eaten fruit from the tree that grew in the middle of the garden. Adam and Eve confessed to what they had done and said that it was the serpent who had taught them. God was very sad about Adam's and Eve's disobedience. He could not trust them anymore, and they were expelled from the garden of Eden for ever. Now they had to work hard in order to have enough food.

This is how sin came into our world. And, as you know, sin results in death. But God is merciful and patient. He could not let the devil ruin man, his favorite creature. God promised people that salvation would come. And many, many years later the following events took place.
There was beautiful girl Mary living in small city of Nazareth. Once when she was home alone her room was illuminated with a bright light. Mary saw an angel of God in this light (picture 9). She got very scared, but the angel calmed her and said, "Rejoice Mary! God has seen you. Very soon you will give birth to the son of God. You will call him Jesus. When your son will grow up he will deliver the world from sin." Mary was ready to fulfill everything that God wanted. The angel disappeared as unexpectedly as he had appeared.

At that time Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph. Joseph was a good man, and he also was obedient to God. Once when he was asleep, an angel appeared to him in a dream and said, "I have good news for you! Mary is waiting for a child through the Holy Spirit. You will call him Jesus. He is the savior of the world promised by God!” (picture 10).

After a while Joseph married Mary. They recalled the angel's news very often, and they were eagerly waiting for the birth of Jesus. At that time the ruler of their country issued a decree that a census should be taken. According to this census, every man had to go to the place where his ancestors were born and write his name into a special list. Mary and Joseph had to go to Bethlehem. Joseph sat Mary on a donkey, and they went for a journey (picture 11).

When Mary and Joseph arrived to Bethlehem, there were no room for them in the inn, and they had to stay at a cattle-shed not far from the town. The time came for Mary to give birth to the baby. When the child was born, she wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger full of hay (picture 12).

This is how the wonderful baby, the only begotten son of God came on earth. A special star rose in the sky, telling the whole world that Jesus Christ the Savior was born.

In our days people all over the world also celebrate the birthday of the Savior, rejoice and give thanks to God for his gift.
