A LITTLE
SHEEP

Do you know that Jesus is a Good Shepherd?
Do you know how glad he is to see each of his small sheep?
Read a story about this in Luke 15:4-7.

This craft will remind you that you also are a small sheep from his flock.

This is a story about a shepherd who lost one of his sheep.

A shepherd had one hundred sheep. He loved every one of his sheep very much. That's why the shepherd always brought his sheep to the best pastures with green grass. While the sheep were resting and eating grass, the shepherd was watching them so that the wolves could not come to the flock and attack the sheep. The sheep were safe when the shepherd was near them. In this way, the days passed by. And when night fell, the shepherd took his flock back home. He counted the sheep and, having learned that all of them were back, he locked the enclosure tightly, so that the wolves could not get inside.

One day the shepherd took his sheep to the pastures as he usually did. It was a nice day; the sun was shining. But by the end of the day the clouds completely covered the sky. So the shepherd gathered his flock and led them back home. They had barely reached the village when it thundered hard and started to rain. The shepherd began to count his sheep: 1, 2, 3, ... 10, ... 97, 98, 99 ...- one sheep was missing! What happened to it? Could it be lost? What do you think the shepherd should do then? Perhaps it would have been better for him to stay at home together with his 99 sheep? Maybe some people would have done so, but not this shepherd. Despite the hard rain and darkness, the shepherd went out to look for the lost sheep. His search was far from easy, the shephered was all wet and cold, yet he did not give up. Suddenly the shepherd heard a wolf howling ahead. "I wish the wolves were not faster than I," he thought as he quickened his pace. But then he heard another sound nearby, "Baaa, Baaa." Of course this was the lost sheep. The shepherd looked under a bush and saw the shivering thing, which was trapped. "I was looking for you for so long. Don't be afraid, you are safe now. I will bring you back home." The shepherd put the sheep on his shoulders and hurried home.

When he came home, he washed and bandaged the wounds, and took the thorns from the sheep's skin. The shepherd was very happy. He ran to his friends and said, "Come and rejoice with me. I have found my lost sheep!"

Jesus came down to this earth to find and lead us into His Kingdom, just as the Kind Shepherd from this story found and brought back the lost sheep.
