And, behold, the LORD stood above it,…» Genesis 28:12, 13 It all began like this… For several years I had a desire in my heart to translate all the music, lyrics and songs that God had given me over last years into reality. In those days I was a guitarist in the praise and worship band in the Kiev Jewish messianic community. We traveled a lot, gave many concerts, rehearsals, and other ministries in the community, with a family and a job. In general I haven’t had enough time for serious work on the accumulation of material. I didn’t have a musician friend who understood me well enough to help. Thank God that all this time my wife understood and supported me. She isn’t a musician, she doesn’t write lyrics but she was the one who felt and believed that all my efforts were the beginning of a serious creative career. Some people didn’t understand what I was writing, some people were ignorant, some people were jealous of it, but anyway everything remained, though only by faith and prayers. One evening wife invited some brothers and sisters from our community to our apartment - to drink some tea and to talk. And there I met one brother from Tarashcha, he was a musician, he wrote music and lyrics, he was an artist and understood everything I was talking about! And I realized that here was at last an answer from God. And after that evening everything began to happen. From that first meeting with Max I understood that our collective project had a future, because the music and songs he showed me turned out to be the parts that were missing in my creative sphere. Max came to Kiev from Tarashcha to play in the praise and worship band of the church “The word of faith”. He wanted to record his own several albums but God decided to do things His own way. Then things started to move rapidly. We started to gather for rehearsals, worked on the arrangements in the studio, and prayed and prayed and prayed. Some time thence Max’s childhood friend and the former drummer of the band “Trace” Sasha Vlasenko came from Tarashcha. Later he became the best bass-guitarist of the «Jacob’s ladder». We started to work diligently on the recording of our first album «Step to the light». In the same year after the release of the album, the set of our band was changed. Bass-guitarist Sasha Vlasenko left the band. Two new musicians: the percussionist-drummer - Andrew Stepanets and bass guitarist - Dima Oleynik joined us. The album “Step to the light” includes the following songs. This album was released in July 2002 and was recorded at the DZZ studio (Central House of recording).
