Cor.: Tell us, please, how did you decide to write christian music? Nastya Shevchenko: I didn't make a special decision. I just wanted to write songs and they appeared in my mind suddenly. So I took paper and wrote them down. Cor.:How do you write your songs? Nastya Shevchenko: When I want to write a song I consider what I would like to say to people. Then I pray and just write a song. Praise to God, I always had a song! Tanya Serba: God gives me songs and I write them down. First, I pray and the melody appears in my mind with the words. Anna Samilova: I've been involved in music since 1996. I have only written one song. Oleg Prokopenko: I have no idea how they do it. I can only suspect. I just select chords and play the guitar Cor.: Why did you name your band "Life"? Nastya Shevchenko: The name of our band is Life because our songs about human life. Life is something precious. It is the means to do good or bad. Anna Samilova: I was agree with the name of our band because it had been already in my heart. Tanya Serba: Why is it "Life"? Because this word discribes everything. Cor.:What is music for you? Oleg Popenko: It is hard to live without music. It it always with me whether I have good or bad mood. Music is a part of myself. Nastya Shevchenko: Music for me is the means of fellowship and I can express myself through it. I'm not an eloquent person, but through music I can say a lot. Tanya Serba: Music is my breathing and it is my life. Anya Smislova: Music is a part of my soul. When I sing I open my heart to those who listen to me. At the moment, singing is my service in the church. I hope it will be my permanent service. Cor.: Who do you sing for? Nastya Shevchenko: We sing to those who don't know God, who are alone and don't know the meaning of life. We want to help them because we used to be like them. Anna Smislova and Tanya Serbova: Our songs for those who are open. Oleg Prokopenko: Our songs for those who think about their life. Êîð.: Where did you sing? Nastya Shevchenko: We sang in different churches, in houses, outside. We went to westrern Ukraine, Belgorod and Odessa for festivals. We wouldn't say that our tours were so great but I hope that they were useful. Cor.:Could you tell us about yourselves, your family and your hobbies. Tanya Serba: I am working with children. I'm not married. I didn't study how to sing and to write music. We've been together for 5 years. Nastya Shevchenko: Tanya is a teacher in Sunday school. Wherever we go she always would find children, tell them about God and play with them. She loves all the children very much. Oleg Prokopenko: I am 33 years old. I'm single. I'm going to get married to somebody soon but I don't know who yet. I indulge in sport. Nastya Shevchenko: Oleg is a carpenter but he plays a guitar well. He's been with us for five years. Lena Bayeva: We've been together for one year. I'm a secretary in the church. I also don't have musical education. Marina Mukozova: I'm married. I have a music education. I'm a teacher. I've sung with the band for one year Luda Kalinina: I'm married. I have two children. I'm working as a secretary. I've been in the band for two years. Anna Smislova: I'm 23 years old. I'm married. I have two children. I'm a seamstress. I indulge in sport. Nastya Shevchenko: Actually we have six children in our band. The range of their age is from four months to six years. We gather together and practise. While the children weep we tune our guitars. Many wonder how we can work something out if it's so noisy. But we are doing fine. Our children evangalise together with us. For example, Anya went to Belgorod for festival with her child and sang there. Can you imagine? It was right after she gave birth to her child. It was a real miracle.
