The composer and arranger Vladimir Mikhnovetsky created Man Sound band in December 1994. Having the wide experience of singing in various choruses, mixed jazz bands and being impressed by the American vocal band Take 6, he conceived the idea of creation of a professional man's a cappella band. Their concert activity has successfully commenced with tour in the USA in 1996. For six weeks Man Sound was a great success performing in evangelical churches and universities, having given several dozens of concerts in six states of the Western Coast of America. Starting from the very first performances of Man Sound on concert sites of Ukraine the interest to the band started increasing, following by their popularity. Getting a hearty welcome on jazz festivals and concerts throughout the country, in 1997 the band met Alexey Kozlov, a well-known Russian saxophonist. This meeting has opened many new prospects to the musicians in Russia. Man Sound's performances on the 3rd and 4th festivals of vocal jazz Jazz Voices (1997 and 1998) in Moscow and on the Jazz Province festivals (1998, 1999, 2002) have awarded the Ukrainian band with a well-deserved popularity in Russia. Co-operation with Russian musicians has developed into a joint performance of Angel Eyes with Alexey Kozlov, specially arranged by the saxophonist, and also in joint performances with Kvadro band lead by Vyacheslav Gorsky. The next step in concert activity of Man Sound band was series of Christmas concerts in Holland and Switzerland in 1998. And in April 1999 Man Sound successfully performed on the 7th International Jazz Festival of Festival Jazz en Artois (France). In February-March 2000 the changed band made a great tour around the Northern West of the USA. They performed successfully in Lionell Hampton the jazz festival (band members and 91-year old veteran of the festival on the top of the page). In May-June 2000 Man Sound performed successfully in "Jazz province - 2000". Vladimir Mikhnovetsky (VM) is talking about the band Man Sound , Ruben Tolmachev (RT) and Vladimir Sukhin (VS). This interview was made in 1998 that’s why some changes are missing in it - there is a new baritone Vyacheslav Vrubel’ and a new soloist and a new soloist-tenor Yuriy Romensky (instead of Ilchuk and Pona).
