Corr.: How and when did you make the decision to perform Christian music? O.L.: In 1991, there were almost no Christian music tapes available. The first audio album that I heard was "Heal Our Land" (by "Hosanna"). After that I couldn't help writing songs. Christian music is a mighty power that can touch hearts and minds and bring them to repentance and the knowledge of truth. That is why when I heard in my heart a call to serve the Lord with songs, I received it as my calling. Corr.: Do you play with a group? If so, what's its name and what does it mean? O.L.: Since May 1996, I've been playing together with the group "Daylight." There are wonderful people in this group, they are all Christians who serve God by playing different instruments and I have to admit that the Lord abundantly blesses them in this. For me they are the greatest, I love them very much and extremely value their work. They help me to embody all of my songs into life. For instance, the song "Videniye" ("Vision") from my last album "The Hope of Glory" (1999), one of the songs that we recently presented to Jesus, needed a lot of work, but the guys did a great job on it. Corr.: How do you write your songs? O.L.: My songs are born by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes they are easy and simple, and sometimes they require careful listening and thoughtful exploration. The Lord never does anything in vain, and every song is a source of thinking that always leads to joy and the realization of the Father's greatness, grace, and infinite love to all of us. Sometimes it is very hard to find words to express emotions and spiritual feelings, but he, the dearest, the wisest and most beloved one, the one who is higher than all things always comes, and then everything takes its place and the song starts to flow from the very depth of your heart where he is the Lord and perfecter of all things. Corr.: What does music mean to you? O.L.: First of all, music was created by God for the full harmony of existence. It is hard to explain, but just as man was created by God in a trinity of spirit, soul, and body, music also consists of three components: harmony, melody, and rhythm. Depending on what dominates, music serves either flesh, or feelings and emotions or spirit. Ideally, all three components of music serve one goal of worshipping God. Corr.: What category of people do you write your songs for? O.L.: Certainly, for the seeker. For those who seek closeness to God, a better knowledge of him. For those who are just starting to discover the world of fellowship with the Spirit and for those who want to find the truth. Corr.: Where do your concerts take place? O.L.: Since my top priority is my family, I simply have no time to plan concerts, so I sing where I'm invited. We suggest to churches that want to organize performances to call us by phone or email us at grf@ukrpack.net. We are always glad to be invited somewhere. Corr.: Could you tell us about yourself? O.L.: I was born in Kiev, in 1973. I am very grateful to my Mom for everything she has done for me and for the care that she has given me for all of my life and that she keeps on giving me now. I owe her much of what I have now. I graduated from secondary and music schools. In 1991, when I was 17, the Lord found me and called me to him through a wonderful man. Now this man is my husband and father of 3 of my children. For 8 years God has been working in our family in incredible ways. He's taught us, edified us, and improved our characters. Our hearts' desire is that he would continue doing this, changing us in the image of his Son. The Lord has given us a wonderful friend who became my father and spiritual discipler to my husband Vasily. I want to realize everything that the Lord has given to me, but I believe that there is a proper time for everything. That is why in my spare time I love painting, writing prose (short stories and novels for adults and children), working on the computer, improve my English and simply try to live the way my dear Lord wants me to. Because Christ is my life and my future, so my dream is to get to know him, the one who existed from the beginning, and be with him in eternity, praising and worshiping him for many many days.
