Music group "Praise" was founded in the fall of 1986 in city Chernivtsi. In the spring of that year a few friends who returned from military service and could not self-actualize in the music bands where they used to play and decided to create their own band according to their music taste. The founders were: Sergey Tofan and Leonid Istratiy. They invited Oleg Yanishin to join the band and he became its music director. Everything started with primitive home-produced instruments. Each musician, who joined the band, would buy an instrument at his own expense: vocalists would buy microphones, amplifiers and speakers, soundman would buy mixer console. The group didn't have any sponsors, and still doesn't have any (except for God Himself - the Supreme Sponsor). By 1990 the group was finally formed: four musicians - two keyboard players and two guitarists and three vocalists. By this time the equipment of the group considerably improved. All the income was invested in equipment. We made long hours and in 1990 we were invited for a Christian Song Festival in Kishinev city. This was the first large-scale festival for us. After this festival our group's life drastically changed. Impressed by the performance of other groups we worked even harder. We spent all our weekends touring, participated at the services all over Ukraine and Moldova. In 1992 a few of our friends left the group - some for family reasons, some started doing business. Since that time the "living" music died for a while. In the fall of 1992 the group was invited for a Christian song festival to Germany. After this festival the group started three-year-long co-operation with a missionery from Germany Ervin Platt. The group participated in three long evangelism trips throughout Irkutsk region (Russia), and also in festivals held in Ukraine, Belarus and Germany. In 1993 we recorded the first album "God is King". We did some records earlier, but they were not popularized. In 1994 we finished compiling the album "Shine The Star". These albums were recorded by FEBC studio in Chernivtsi, sound and arrangement by Oleg Yanishin. In the spring of 1995 the ones to remain in the group were: Ivan Banar (who became director of the renewed group) and Alexander Moraru. They invited their friends: Vasiliy Mintenko and Pavel Banar. In 1996 album "I Wait for You" was recorded - arranged by Pavel Banar. In the fall a project was created to celebrate 10-year anniversary of the group. Remixes for 4 songs were recorded and the best songs were selected from three previous albums. This compilation was called "Day after Day". A guitarist Vitaliy Shlakhta and keyboard player Arkadiy Tofan joined the group. After they came the group's music "came alive". In 1997 album "Road to the Church", arranged by Arkadiy Tofan and Vasiliy Mintenko. In 1998 album "You Are My Strenth" was recorded - arranged by Arkadiy Tofan. The albums "I Wait for You", "Road to the Church" and "You Are My Strenth" were recorded at "C" studio in Brest, sound by Pavel Shelpuk. Album "You are my strenth" became the last one for this group's set-up. In winter of 1998 Arkadiy Tofan, and in the fall Ivan Banar - leading vocalist, composer and director moved to the USA. Same year Tatyana Tofan came back to the group, and also Daniel Petresku joined the group. Since fall of 1998 through the end of 1999 the group consisted of: Alexander Moraru - vocalist, saxophone and acoustic guitar, acting director. Vasiliy Mintenko - vocalist, bass-guitar, arrangement. Vitaliy Shlakhta - leader-guitar, arrangement. Daniel Petresku - leader-vocalist, violin, guitar etc. Tatyana Tofan - vocalist, keyboard player. Victor Moraru - soundman. During all this time the group has been doing evangelism, co-operating with many missioneries in different countries: Russia, Belarus, Germany, Moldova and Ukraine, playing in different music styles. God has been blessing us and inspiring to write new songs. We want to thank God for this and serve Him more by our talents. Listen to our songs, sing with us, come to our concerts.
