Cor.: When did you start performing Christian music? Answer: Immediately after I got saved I started writing Christian music. It occurred in 1990 in Latvia, Klaypeda city. Because my hobby was composing, before long I started writing music for God. Those were worship songs, outreach songs and music for Christian dramas. Cor.: How did you come to God? Îòâåò: I played in restaurant, recorded soundtracks for singers and taught the guitar courses in two places. Robertas, a drummer, who played with me in the restaurant, was far different from other musicians. I was interested by his message about faith and Living God. As I found out, meanwhile the church that he attended was praying for me. I was 23, and my private life was not fortunate - I was a divorced nomad musician, who was bereaved of all hope for a better life. I was especially touched by two things in the stories of Robertas about God: first - that God is alive, second - that He instead of condemning me, He loves me. Some time later I came to the church and got saved. And immediately I started ministering in the church. I played now grand piano, now guitar and sang with others who praise God. In 1993 I moved to the capital of Lithuania, city of Vilnius. In 1997 an outreach group was formed by the musicians who played in the worship group, which I named Heaven's Agents (in my childhood I liked films about intelligence agents). My fellow musicians: bass-guitarist - Andrey Vyazinin, percussionist - Kyastutis Didvalis, acoustic guitarist - Aydas Stonis and a poet Dayva Karvelene. Cor.: How do your songs sprout up? Îòâåò: It depends. Some songs come to me when I talk to the Lord, some come because of desire to create something new - so each song is born in a special way. Cor.: What is music for you? Answer: Music takes most of my life. My job is related to music (since 1996 I've been teaching in a private guitar school "Gloria"). My ministry in the church is related to music (I'm worship leader in Word of Faith Ñhurch, pastor Gedryus Saulitis). Now I see that music can be both curse and blessing, like in one fairy tale about a fife that in succession would belong to good and bad people. And surely the best way is when music is in God's hands, and not just partially, but wholly, all existing music. Cor.: Who is your audience? Answer: I like the variety of music styles, and certainly it comes from the Creator's heart. I want to play and sing in different styles to attract the people of different categories to the Lord. The group Heaven's Agents is youth-oriented. Usually we perform in cultural centers or dance-halls of different cities of Lithuania. My solo album Talking Frankly is listened to by both young and elderely people. Cor.: Where does your group perform? Answer: I perform the program Talking Frankly to a guitar accompaniment and soundtrack in high schools, hospitals and rehabilitation centers. In this album I recorded all parts on my own. Cor.: You are founder and participant of another team... Answer: Yes, in 1999 another group - jazz quartet Gloria (this music is more intellectual-oriented). Currently we are finishing our first album. I play the guitar, bass-gutarist and percussionist are the same and Donatas Bulskis is saxophonist. Just recently we've finished recording a worship tape in Lithuanian, there are my songs there and also the songs of other worshipers from our church. Cor.: Please, share about yourself. Îòâåò: My wife's name is Irena, children: eldest son Daniel (he's 4), youngest daughter Esther (she's 2). I don't really have time for any special hobbies due to the tight schedule. My friends are church people and just musicians. Cor.: What are your artistic plans? Answer: I'm hoping for some more accomplishments in future, to serve our Savior cordially and to be a part of the prophesy about restoration of David's tabernacle, in which music ministry was part and parcel.
