Cor.: What was your creative way like before you repented? Answer: I used to write songs before I repented, in 1988 and 1990 I recorded two albums with my band. Cor.: How did you come to God? Answer: I met God in 1991. At that time I worked in a restaurant. My life came to a dead lock. I decided to come to God in prayer and my prayer was answered. Cor.: How did you start writing Christian music? Answer: At first it was hard to write Christian texts because I didn’t know God’s character well. For my first songs I used the lyrics that I found in Christian songbooks. Cor.: How do you write your songs? Answer: I write my songs the way a pastor prepares his message. When he sees a problem in the society or in the church, he comes to God for a word. Any song, even a world song, preaches about something. Cor.: What kind of music do you perform? Have you ever had a desire to change the style? Answer: The style doesn’t really matter to me. I like many styles and directions of modern music: rock, pop, jazz and many others. I record the albums starting with the instruments that are available. There is a desire to start writing music in different styles. Cor.: Who do you sing for? Answer: I write songs for the churches regardless of denomination and I am ready to do my best efforts so that the Christians of different confessions may be united. Cor.: What helps you to find the way out of a difficult situation? Answer: The only way out of a difficult situation, besides prayer, is the possibility not to let depression attack me. Music helps me most of all. Cor.: Have you ever worked with other musicians? What did you learn from them? Answer: When I was working in restaurants I had to play with many guys who work with famous musicians nowadays. Cor.: Are there any modern musicians who you like? Answer: Out of modern musicians I like A. Barykin, A. Marshal, band “Alisa”, «Hi-Fi». Among Christian singers I like S. Bricksa, band «New Jerusalem», «Open Heaven». Cor.: What is your attitude to the modern show-business? Answer: Modern music imposes the sinful way of living. Then, people listen to the songs and start acting according to what the song says. During last ten years, when “freedom” came to the music and cinema, we observe moral decay in the society. However, each musician will be responsible before God for what he makes. Music should bring people closer to God – it is created just for this aim. Today, the world of show business dictates us the culture and the lifestyle. The most terrible thing is that money determinate everything. And it’s particularly terrible when it happens with Christian musicians. However, music can also be the weapon against sinful way of living. Cor.: What do you like and what you don’t like about the Christian musical world? Answer: There is an extreme in the Christian churches. They make a song out of two words and 3 accords and sing it about an hour. Many musicians don’t pay enough attention to the lyrics of their songs. But let us go to the Bible. The Book of Psalms is the book of worship songs written by David. The Bible says, when David sang these songs, the evil spirits would go away from the people. We see that all of the songs are meaningful; they tell us about the events of that time, prophesize about future, about coming of Messiah and even talk about our times. These songs were very meaningful. I am trying to write songs in such a way that they would be understandable for a large audience. And, the main thing is that these songs should encourage people to think about the right way to the Kingdom of God. Cor.: Tell us, please about yourself. Answer: I am married. I graduated from a technical school and I have the higher education in God – I graduated from the Bible Missionary Institute «Joshua». I have friendly relationships with pastors and with brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus from different churches. I serve God preaching Gospel through music and through the word. I can see many ways of overcoming barriers between the believers and I have been recently working on this problem. Cor.: What are your plans for future? Answer: My plans are to raise many new musicians. I believe that in the nearest future I will have all necessary professional equipment to do serious job.
