Q: Could you tell us a few words about your biography?

NATALIYA: My name is Nataliya Yurievna Zhukovskaya. I was born on the 8th of February, 1962. I graduated from a higher music school in Vladimir, with the specialty of "Conductor and Choir Master." I have a son. Unfortunately, I am divorced, but God has a plan for everything, and I believe that He will make my family complete. I am very glad that my 14-year-old son Maxim is also a believer. He sings beautifully, and participates in concerts together with me. I work at Association "Emmanuel" in Kiev, and all the workers of the Association are my best friends.

Q:
When and how did you make a decision to write and perform Christian music?

N.: It took me some time to make this decision. After I repented before God, I became a believer, but continued to sing secular songs. I can't say that those songs were vulgar or cruel. But after a while I realized they were just empty. Shortly after, I felt a deep conflict inside myself. On one hand, the stage was everything for me, and I didn't want to leave it. On the other hand, I couldn't keep on singing songs that were giving people nothing.
Once our producer called me and invited me to participate in a concert where several other groups would also perform. I said I wouldn't go. First he said such a refusal from money for living was crazy. I replied that I had chosen God and made a decision not to perform on the secular stage anymore. He said, "Maybe you're right." So I had no money to live and, so to speak, died as a singer. At that time I lived in a small provincial town in the heart of Russia. For 6 months I was just praying to God. I prayed, "Lord, here I am, take me and use me as you want!" Then God started to do miracles in my life. First I recorded a Christian song in Vladimir, together with an American missionary. He liked my singing very much, so he invited me to Moscow to sing. Once I had the privilege to sing and praise God before an audience of 7,000, in the Sports Palace. It was a meeting of people who wrote to Mission "Emmanuel" after having watched the "Superbook" cartoon series on TV. After that performance I was invited to work at this mission. Here I recorded three solo albums and participated in recording children's audio and video albums. Now I write and record songs about God and for God, sing in cartoons and video programs. Having once made a decision to serve God, I didn't lose anything, but gained much.

Q: Is there one particular song that's special to you?

N.: Every song that I write is special to me.

Q: How do you write your songs?

N.: It often happens that a song comes to me from above, from God, and I write it down to His dictation. Many of my songs reflect my deep personal feelings and come from what I experienced. C.: What does music mean to you?

N.: For me music is a means to express the message that I want to give over to the audience. Music is my good friend. And I believe that music as well as all other beautiful and harmonious things is given to us by God.

Q: Could you tell us a couple of words about your audience?

N.: I write and perform songs for a very wide audience. Among these people are both believers and those who don't know God yet.

Q: Where do you perform now?

N.: Most concerts I'm involved with take place in Ukraine. We are planning trips to regional centers around Ukraine and also monthly performances in different places in Kiev.

Q: Do you have any plans for the future?

N.: I love saying that all my plans are in God's hand. I am planning to record a new album, "In God's Hand," and shoot several video clips. I also want to help my son to record a solo audio album.

Q: Last question...are you happy?

N.: I really am a very happy person.
