FOOD FOR THOUGHT: “We introduce to you Rebecca St. James” – a phrase that may seem to be funny, “Who doesn’t know her? So many rewards and gold albums, such a celebrity... It is said that a man is like not exhaustible source. Meet her – so famous but at the same time Rebecca is so new. Obviously there is no need to stop and talk about Rebecca as a talented singer and a girl who as other girls (also boys, but they keep silent) wants to be in love. She wants real, great and hot love – love forever. She is twenty-five. She’s seen, heard and passed through many things. She has a lot to say. So, pay attention – here she goes. “Sometimes we start to fear because of our failures. We are afraid to live. We are afraid to love. We are afraid to let someone into our hearts. We are afraid of pain. I’ve these experiences because of my failures with men. For example, a friend of mine had problems because of his parents divorce. So it depends. We are afraid that our past experiences will reoccur in the future and prevent us from being happy.” I rarely become involved in romantic affairs, but there were enough of them to hurt me. It is always hard to break relationships. But it is good to do it when you are sure that it wouldn’t work. Sometimes I wanted to have a boyfriend. I didn’t want my dreams to go too far I would say, “Let’s just be friends”. It turns out that in America people would say that when they wanted to end their relationship. In this way I lost many of my potential boyfriends. Some of them purposely and some subconsciously wanted to hurt me for that. It was painful. I started to fear. I was afraid to let anyone get too close to me. Almost a year ago, in the beginning of 2002, I was invited to sing at a funeral. A widow had sent the invitation. She asked me to sing a song called “Wait For Me”. By the way, I wrote it for my future husband. Later I found out that her husband was killed in Afghanistan. Her last present for him was the album “Transform” and the song “Wait For Me” was “their song”. At the funeral an unknown person said that he would never forget what had helped him to leave his fears. He said, “Cowards die many times but brave men die only once.” I just needed to understand that with God’s support and power a new day starts. The past may fade and the light may become brighter on the horizon. I prayed and asked Jesus to help me. I made a decision to live, to believe in good, in a new day and new opportunities. If your situation is similar to mine or even worse, if you gave your heart and body to someone and you were put to shame; if you are afraid that it could happen again; if you are afraid to live you need know that fear is not from God. I know what I am talking about and I hope you will receive these words not as from a preacher. This is my life and personal experience. Give all of your mistakes, sins, pains and fears to God. He is able to give you joy in the midst of your sufferings. If He has done it for me and for my friends, He can do it for you too. Just give him the opportunity and everything will change. I am convinced of this.
