Interview with Stakhovsky Sergey Cor.: When and how did you decide to create and perform Christian music? ÑÑ: Actually I didn’t try to create music. Perhaps, real creativity starts right now. I started to perform Christian music when I came to the church, while playing in the band of praise and worship. This was and is a good school for any musician. Cor.: Do you have your own band? Answer: I don’t have my own band, I have some musicians I play in a band of praise and worship with. Cor.: How do you write your songs? Answer: In the near future I plan to record my author album. I’ll try to use different styles. I like Celtic sounds, perhaps some of my future songs will be like ethnic rock, besides I attach importance to rhythm, that’s why some of the songs will be funk or house and I hope they’ll be danceable. Cor.: What does music mean for you? Answer: Perhaps God created music to make our emotions perfect. Music for me – is a part of my life. It’s not the main one, but quite important one. Music can banish evil spirits, and can attract them, depending on the person who is playing the instrument. There are only seven notes, but creative possibilities in this sphere are limitless. I like inspiring music, music that purifies our emotions and stimulates us to thoughts about who God is. Music that fires joy and makes you dance, that paints bright images and doesn’t let you go. Cor.: What is your audience? Answer: I want my songs and my music to be comprehensible for everyone. Cor.: Where do you perform? Answer: Our praise and worship band doesn’t give many concerts, but we perform in our city, we go to daughter churches in Simferopol, Zaporozhye, Berdyansk and other cities. Two more musicians from our praise and worship band and me participated in local services with the band J.C. House from the Riga church «The New Generation». The services were in Dnepropetrovsk in the Palace of Sport. Cor.: Tell me, please, more about yourself. Answer: I’ve been married since 1974. My wife’s name is Galina, my daughter’s name is Yana and my grandson’s name is Dan’ka (Daniel) – he’s 4. I’m a guitarist. Besides working on the recording of our songs I help young singers – for the Vyacheslav Maslov’s album and for the band SKMS from Melitopol I recorded guitar tracks. The album of this band was issued in summer 2002. Interview with Artomonova Alevtina. Cor.: When and how did you decide to create and perform Christian music? ÀÀ: Music was a great part of my life and when I came to the church, I just continued to do my hobby. Only the content of the songs was changed. Cor.: Do you have your own band? Answer: Yes, there is a band and it’s called «Exodus». It was born 4 years ago. Having prepared the repertoire the band made a tour about Zaporozhskaya area. Since then the band has existed in a fruitful way. And we called ourselves «Exodus» because we were inspired by the musical of Aleksey Ledyaev «Exodus». That’s why the idea to call the band “Exodus” appeared such a way. Cor.: How do you write your songs? Answer: Our band performs songs written by different songwriters, but in our repertoire we have a lot of songs written by the members of the band. Texts are written by the leader and vocalist of the band Alexander Artamonov, music is written by the drummer Alexander Borisovich and the guitarist Andrey Kachalov. Some songs appear in prayer, and some of them appear from the desire to share impressions after the event or some experiences. Cor.: What does music mean for you? Answer: Music for me is life. And that says everything. Cor.: What is your audience? Answer: When I choose my repertoire I choose the songs for young people. Cor.: Where do you perform? Answer: We participate in different church activities from our region and accept invitations to participate in musical meetings in different cities with pleasure. Two years ago we were invited to participate in the rock-festival in Dneprorudnoye and became winners.
