The brightest of God's miracles in my life? God revealed the first miracle in my life when I was at war in Afghanistan, in 1980. I was caught between two fires: on one side, there were Afghans that nobody wanted to be captured by (that is why we left the last cartridge for ourselves), on the other side I was charged with desertion and sentenced to be shot (in fact I could have been executed with no inquest or trial). It was all against common sense, I thought it was a nightmare. In order to wake up I started crying to heaven, asking for help from a God about whom I knew almost nothing. But a miracle did happen! My commander who was going to shoot me became a different man just in a minute. His hatred faded away, and I couldn't understand it. The situation that I found myself in was awful because in Afghanistan if you were not killed in battle the army would write your parents "perished not while fulfilling his duty..." And this was most scary especially as I volununteered for that raid because I wanted to try myself. A second miracle happened in a few years, in 1982, when a man nearly died because of my fault. The doctors could do nothing, there was sepsis and antibiotics couldn't help anymore. Then I said: "Jesus! If you exist, help!" Next day the man felt better and in a week he was out of the hospital. But even after these miracles I did not submit to God immediately. I had been using drugs and alcohol for 13 years, and the last 3 years to me were hell on earth because I couldn't live without a dose for more than 3 days. God patiently waited for me to humble myself before him. I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior on the first of February, 1993, when I reached the "age of Christ," as I had been prophecying about myself. As soon as I was set free of alcohol and drug addiction I became a singer of my new life in Christ Jesus - and I will sing to him as long as I live! Since that time God reveals to me his mercy and miracles all the time, and I can't even enumerate them. May he be glorified forever!
